Of course ImOutofTown is travel, but it’s also Lifestyle. With the pandemic limiting our wanderlust activities, I’ve been indulging in an all time favourite…second hand stores and boutique shopping.
The saying goes, “Another man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” This is the absolute truth. Pictured here is an impeccable Givenchy tuxedo jacket that I scored for a whopping $4.99. The joke of it all….it was suppose to be $9.99, but I just so happen to show up at this shop on half off day. lol
Here are some tips for second hand store and boutique adventures:
The key to this kind of shopping is to not get overwhelmed by the piles of disorganized merchandise. Take your time and look through carefully.
It’s ok to have in mind what you’re looking for, but be open. If you’re in the market for slacks, it may not be your day for slacks, but kitchenware is hot.
Don’t be afraid to ask for a lower price. Many shops are willing to negotiate with you because they’re ready to move product off the floor for new arrivals.
Lastly, smile and be extra friendly with staff. More often than not… they’re the plug that’ll hook you up at the point of sale .. if you know what I mean.
